Sad Week…

Mother & Child Care...

My cousin died the other day due to high blood pressure and extra high sugar, and she was pregnant. Her baby is still in the hospital being incubated because she’s dangerously underweight.

I think about it now and I still can’t believe it. I just saw her nearly two weeks ago, and she was with her cute son. They were going somewhere — to her doctor, I was told.

Sad week for us in the family.

Butterfly Fairy

Butterfly Fairy

My body is still adjusting from the hangover of Malaysia… I seriously think. I can’t sleep yet and it’s over 2 a.m.

Posting another photo that’s the result of our workshop on photography with Kenvin Pinardy and Rarindra Prakarsa. I’m overwhelmed meeting these two photography icons in Asia.

Petronas Twin Towers

Petronas Twin Towers

I just came from a trip to several places in Malaysia; one of them Kuala Lumpur. My particular interest in the place was to chase the blue hour. The last time I was in KL, we arrived late and the lights on the twin towers were already off.

In this recent visit however, I had a stroke of luck. Caught it just at the right time with my party of 3 other photographers, a stylist and her daughter.

The twin towers look elegant during this particular time of day. Love it.

Diana's Wings...

MODEL: Diana Sunshine Rademann is a beauty pageant title holder who lives in Puerto Princesa City.

I’ve successfully downloaded cute brushes that are free online, and one of them creates cool moons like this one on my photo. I love to use them, especially if I’m practicing digital manipulation.

Of course, naysayers would say unprocessed photos are more appealing because they are what are real and true. And I agree. But I also want to learn many things — and that said, I always make it a point to set myself on the learning mode each day.

It’s fun to learn; it does not stagnate a person — it makes him/her proficient. I learned digital manipulation after attending a workshop in April with Maricris Fabi. Since then, I’ve been practicing a lot 🙂

Here’s what I had for lunch today at Skybox Good Food, Good Times — a Taquito Salad.

You’re looking at shredded organic greens topped with hand-rolled corn tortillas, savory ground beef, tomato salsa, cheese and garlic dressing… and showered with more cheese!

Can’t ask for more on a busy Monday, uy!

Rur-Ex…

R-UBEX...

CAMERA SETTING: 1/10 sec at F14 // 10mm // ISO 640 // Did not fire flash // taken on June 6, 2013 — an old tree nursery in Rio Tuba, Bataraza

URBEX or urban exploration in photography is thought of as the discovery of abandoned man-made structures or ruins, such as broken-down buildings, or nooks and crannies of any structure that is on its last legs.

To shutterbugs who love processing their photos into high dynamic range (HDR), URBEX is interesting because of the details they present — and of course, the adrenalin rush (probably!) that comes along with the risk of exploring what is unknown to many.

From my Bataraza travel, I’m trying URBEX with the photo above… but my brother John said it’s more Rur-Ex (rural exploration) since the scene was shot in a rural town 🙂 I kind of like how that reads… or sounds!

Bataraza is a first class municipality in southern Palawan but is still is beautifully rural in a lot of things despite the presence of the Rio Tuba Nickel Mining Corporation and Coral Bay Nickel Corporation.

The photo above is that of an old tree nursery. When the nursery was transferred to a new location, it just became a storage for wheelbarrows and other hand-propelled vehicles, also “abono” or fertilizers for the seedlings, and seedlings that failed to grow due to some factors.
